Mystiko parfume de parfume
The word perfume comes from the Latin phrase, "per" meaning "through" and "fumus" meaning smoke." The French later gave the name parfum to the pleasant smells that drift through the air from burning incense. There are few periods of history that have not been influenced by perfume. The history of perfume is often intertwined with the history of the human race.
The first form of perfume was incense. Incense was first discovered by the Mesopotamians about 4,000 years ago. Ancient cultures burned many kinds of resins, bums and woods at their religious ceremonies. They often soaked the fragrant woods and resins in water and oil, and rubbed their bodies with the liquid. They also embalmed the dead with these perfumes.
Also it was discovered 4,000 years ago on the Island of Cyprus in a village called Pyrgos, something special was happening. One of the first perfume factories of Cyprus was filling the local air with beautiful scents.
At the premises the oldest apparatus to distil perfumes was found along with several jars.

History of the Cyprus Perfume
The ancient perfumes of Cyprus started in 2003 when a small perfume factory was found at Pyrgos/Mavroraki during the excavation of the industrial complex that dates back to 2,000 BC.
Since the begining, the peculiar outfit of the recovered objects suggested that the whole paraphernalia, belonged to the production of specific products. Moreover, not only the shapes of the vases were characteristic of the scents, production and conservations but their distribution was indicative of a working place for their processing. Even if almost all the vases have been found in fragments, the analyses of the pots and of the samples of earth taken them and inside the pits, where 14 jugs were allocated on ashes, suggested that the area was destined to the production of scents and medicines.
